How it works, and what you agree to

Your photos are yours

Guest uploads go directly into a folder in your own Google Drive. Sundust does not keep a copy of the original files. We ask Google only for access to files this app creates, so the rest of your Drive is invisible to us. If you disconnect us or delete your album, the photographs stay exactly where they are.

The flip side: storage is yours to manage. If your Google account runs out of space, uploads stop. We can’t recover a file you delete from your own Drive.

You’re responsible for the album

You decide who gets the link, and the photos land in your account, so under South African privacy law (POPIA) you are the one responsible for them. Please tell your guests the album exists and what you’ll do with the photos. A line on the table card is usually enough.

If someone asks you to take their photo down, do it. On paid albums you can hide anything yourself in a couple of taps. On free albums, ask us and we’ll help.

If you’re a guest uploading

Only upload photos you took or have permission to share, and please be thoughtful about other people in them. The host can see everything that arrives, including your name if you gave one, and can remove anything. You can take back a photo you’ve just uploaded for a short while afterwards; after that, ask the host.

We don’t ask you to create an account, and we don’t use your uploads for anything other than showing them in this album.

How long it stays up

Uploads stay open for a window you choose, two weeks after the event by default. Free albums stay viewable for 90 days after that; paid albums for 12 months. When an album is archived the gallery goes to sleep, but nothing is deleted from your Drive. A Signature album’s link is permanent.

Paying

Upgrades are a one-time charge for that album, with nothing recurring and nothing to cancel. If something goes wrong on our side and we can’t deliver what you paid for, tell us and we’ll refund you.

What we can’t promise

Gather depends on Google Drive. If Google is down, or your account has an issue, uploads and viewing may be affected in ways we can’t fix from here. We keep no backup of your originals, because keeping one would defeat the point of the product.
